Cognitively Driven Arabic Text Readability Assessment Using Eye-Tracking

Using physiological data helps to identify the cognitive processing in human brain. One method of obtaining these behavioral signals is by using eye-tracking technology. Previous psychology literature shows that readable and difficult-to-read texts are associated with certain eye movement patterns, which has recently encouraged researchers use patterns for readability assessment tasks. However, although it seems promising, this research direction not been explored adequately, particularly Arabic. The Arabic language defined its own rules characteristics challenges. There still a clear gap determining potential measures improve text. Motivated this, we present pilot study explore extent enhance text readability. We collected movements 41 participants while reading provide real-time text; were further analyzed used build several prediction models different regression algorithms. findings show an improvement task, requires investigation.
